238 Brownies from all areas of Lancashire East came together for their County Brownie Day at All Saints High School, Rossendale.

The girls, aged 7-10, earned at least three badges on the day. They completed five activities to earn a Skills Builder badge from the Be Well Theme of the new Girlguding programme around the theme of Feeling Good physically and emotionally. Activities included thinking about getting enough sleep, drinking sufficient water and building their self-confidence superpowers.

As Girlguiding is currently in transition to the new programme the Brownies were able to complete the Agility Interest Badge from the outgoing Brownie programme. This involved lots of sporty challenges.

The final badge of the day was a specially commissioned Superhero themed badge that was only available to participants of the event.

Hannah from Grindleton Brownies was able to earn four badges in one day as she completed the final clause of her Brownie Adventure Badge by attending an event with girls from other Brownie Units.

Hannah (age 8) said, “It was a super day with lots of fun. I enjoyed the great activities.”

The event was a good opportunity for Leaders from across the county to meet together. Leader Samantha Brown from 4th Darwen Brownies said, “I think the Brownies have had an amazing day. They’ve had a good opportunity to mix with their Brownie family from across Lancashire East and experience the new programme.”
