7th Darwen St Cuthbert’s Brownies celebrated their 75th birthday last week, however, the party was also tinged with sadness as they said goodbye to their Brown Owl, Doreen Sinfield who is retiring. What better send off could she have than remembering and recognising the great achievements that St Cuthbert’s Brownies have had since they were formed in 1943.

The Brownies entertained an audience of parents and past members of St Cuthberts with songs and dance and they all enjoyed a fantastic 75th birthday cake.

Doreen has been part of guiding for 54 years, 39 of which have been as Brown Owl and her contribution to the Darwen Division community is immeasurable. Doreen has reassured us though that we’ll still see her around, only this time she’ll be donning the red of the Trefoil Guild. Phew!
