Clitheroe Castle Junior Park Run invited Girlguiding Ribble Valley to join them for last week’s Park Run. 100 runners aged 5-14 got up bright and early to attend the weekly Park Run Junior event at Clitheroe Castle, including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, age 5 – 14+ from across the Ribble Valley. The girls had been invited to “takeover” the event and Girlguiding Ribble Valley were very keen to participate in this special event to show that Girls Can!, and to encourage more girls to take part in exercise. This fits in to the new Girlguiding programme under the Be Well theme.
Division Commissioner Harriet Smith said “What a welcome! It’s our pleasure to come and see this brilliant weekly event first hand – thanks so much to the organisers for inviting us along and making us so welcome. We’ve been delighted to take part and hope that many of our members will attend regularly”.
Holly, age 8, a Brownie said “It was amazing! I’d do it again. You should all come!”
Girlguiding Ribble Valley are grateful to Teso Clitheroe for providing water and fruit for the runners and would also like to thank all the volunteers who came to help marshall and run the Park Run. Both Park Run and Girlguiding are open to new volunteers and would welcome any enquiries via their Internet sites or Facebook pages.

Girlguiding Ribble Valley hopes to attend the Junior Park Run once a month for the next year.
